OPTICOR WX 5500 is a water-soluble corrosion inhibitor specifically designed for application on copper rods at the end of continuous casting/rolling lines such as Contirod, Southwire, Krupp Hazelett, and Properzi, as well as on upstream casting lines such as Outokumpu and Rautomead.

APPLICATION BENEFITS

OPTICOR WX 5500 is a highly inhibited, water-soluble product with exceptional wetting and acid-resistant properties.
It provides a continuous, adherent film on the metal surface.
It protects copper and its alloys, zinc-galvanized coatings, against tarnishing during processing and against atmospheric conditions during storage and transportation.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

OPTICOR WX 5500 is safely used to protect copper and its alloys, and zinc-galvanized coatings, against tarnishing due to oxidation or other adverse atmospheric conditions. It lubricates the passage of the processed rod through the winding tube.

For continuous casting lines: A concentration of 2.5–5% is recommended.

For vertical casting lines: A concentration of 5–15% is recommended.

Refractometer Reading = 2.5 x Reading

The temperature should be maintained between approximately 55 and 70°C.

The immersion time should be sufficient for the metal to reach bath temperature to promote rapid drying.
